The Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia joined five other regulators to organise the III International Consumer Protection Week in Samtskhe-Javakheti, aimed at improving consumer rights protection mechanisms in Georgia. The programme brought together the Competition and Consumer Protection Agency, GNERC, the National Bank, the Communications Commission and the National Food Agency. A panel discussion involving the six agencies reviewed consumer protection results, challenges and enforcement mechanisms, followed by a Q&A session covering how consumers can protect their rights, where to apply in case of a violation, and in what form. Inclusion of persons with disabilities and ethnic minorities, and equal access to information, was highlighted as a focus for the week. Further working and information meetings with consumers are scheduled for March 14 in Zugdidi and March 15 in Batumi.
