The Argentina Superintendency of Insurance has reorganized passenger transport insurance into two subbranches covering public services and services excluded from that category. The new structure, which follows the regulator’s earlier alignment of passenger transport cover with the revised transport framework, will govern new contracts and renewals from Jan. 1, 2027, giving insurers time to adapt their operations. Policies for public passenger transport services must include a mandatory deductible payable by the insured. For excluded services, the deductible will be optional, allowing insurers to reduce or remove it. The regulator also replaced the term “Public Passenger Transport” with “Passenger Transport” in its general insurance rules to reflect the broader structure.
