The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan has developed a draft Law on Credit Rating Agencies intended to establish the legal status and operating principles for credit rating agencies in Kazakhstan. The draft was prepared under the action plan to implement the Financial Sector Development Concept through 2030 and is designed to introduce conditions for the creation of local rating agencies and define an optimal regime for their regulation and supervision. It also sets requirements on conflict-of-interest management, information disclosure and corporate governance, and defines the powers of the authority responsible for oversight of credit rating agencies.
