The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission has cancelled the financing license and revoked the primary registration of Digido Finance Corp., which operates the UnaPay and UnaCash online lending platforms, after finding it opened and operated four branches without the required SEC certificate of authority. A May 9 order issued through the SEC Financing and Lending Companies Department found the firm violated Section 6(A) of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 8556 (Financing Company Act of 1998), which prohibits financing companies from establishing or operating a branch, agency, extension office, or unit without prior authorisation from the Commission. The order revoked Digido Finance’s certificate of authority to operate as a financing company and cancelled its corporate registration.
