In a parliamentary response, Monetary Authority of Singapore Chairman Gan Kim Yong addressed concerns about the new Investment Management Track under the Overseas Networks and Expertise Pass, following its introduction as part of measures to strengthen Singapore’s asset management hub. Gan, who is also deputy prime minister and minister for trade and industry, said the track targets a small group of global industry leaders who can anchor capital, expand business opportunities and create jobs for Singaporeans in asset management and related services. Singaporeans accounted for about 80% of the industry’s nearly 25,000 workers at the end of 2025, with local employment increasing by 6,000 between 2020 and 2025. The Monetary Authority of Singapore is also working with major financial institutions on overseas postings and leadership programs intended to help Singaporean professionals build the capabilities and networks needed for senior financial sector roles.
