The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted the opening of a regional meeting in Tashkent bringing together central bank representatives from Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan to discuss priorities for payment systems and digital finance. Discussions covered payment systems, digital financial infrastructure, cybersecurity, fintech market regulation, and the implementation of innovative solutions. The agenda also included special legal regimes for financial services, Tajikistan’s unified QR system, Kazakhstan’s digital infrastructure, Azerbaijan’s new regulatory approaches to payment services, and the use of SupTech and RegTech, cashless payments, and regulatory sandbox models. The meeting is intended to strengthen cooperation among the participating central banks, support experience-sharing, and advance joint initiatives in payments and digital financial technologies.
