The European Commission has launched a targeted consultation to collect stakeholder feedback on obstacles to capital markets integration across the European Union, as part of implementing its Savings and Investments Union (SIU) strategy. The consultation seeks views, facts, and evidence on barriers to cross-border trading and post-trading, challenges to scaling up investment funds, divergences in supervisory practices, and options for simplification. Input is intended to inform measures aimed at improving the mobilisation of savings into productive investment and expanding financial opportunities for citizens and businesses. Contributions are requested from stakeholders including civil society, consumers, social partners, businesses, Member State authorities, and other interested parties by 10 June 2025. The Commission plans to use the findings to shape measures to be presented in a comprehensive package in the fourth quarter of 2025.
