The State Bank of Pakistan has directed Saturday-opening branches of all commercial banks to operate extended hours on 31 January 2026 to facilitate over-the-counter payments of government duties and taxes, following a request from the Federal Board of Revenue. Branches are to remain open from 09:00 to 17:00, including National Bank of Pakistan branches handling customs collections, and banks have been advised to keep the relevant branches open as long as required to support the Special Clearing for government transactions conducted by NIFT. Banks must also ensure uninterrupted availability of online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms, to enable online payments of government duties and taxes.
