The National Bank of Moldova published its monthly cash foreign exchange market statistics for June 2025, covering purchases and sales of foreign currency against the Moldovan leu by currency exchange offices with individuals. Total turnover reached EUR 432.8 million equivalent, comprising EUR 343.8 million of purchases and EUR 89.0 million of sales, up 2.2% from the previous month. The euro accounted for EUR 313.3 million (72.4% of total turnover), followed by the US dollar at EUR 76.2 million (17.6%). Other currencies totalled EUR 30.6 million (7.1%), while Romanian leu transactions were EUR 8.8 million (2.0%), Russian ruble EUR 3.1 million (0.7%) and Ukrainian hryvnia EUR 0.8 million (0.2%). Compared with May 2025, US dollar turnover rose 14.6% and euro turnover increased 2.2%, while other currencies fell 19.3%; compared with June 2024, overall turnover was up 2.3%, with euro turnover up 11.7% and US dollar turnover down 19.6%. Euro equivalents are calculated using monthly average official exchange rates, and the National Bank of Moldova publishes the cash foreign exchange market data monthly by the last day of the month following the reporting period.
