The International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation Trustees’ Nominating Committee has updated the recruitment process for the next chair of the International Accounting Standards Board, who will succeed Andreas Barckow when his term ends on 30 June 2026. The search, launched in October 2025 with support from an executive search firm, is in its final stages. The committee expects to have a new chair in place by 1 October 2026 and has asked IASB Vice-Chair Linda Mezon-Hutter to serve as acting chair during the transition period. The trustees confirmed the interim arrangement at their 9 to 11 June 2026 meeting in Montreal, Canada. The update also highlighted Mezon-Hutter’s leadership and standard-setting background, including senior roles in the financial sector, her previous position as chair of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board and her appointment to the IASB in 2022.
