The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic has produced 20 som and 50 som banknotes domestically for the first time in the country’s independent history. Kyrgyzstan had previously manufactured its national currency abroad for more than 30 years, and the move marks the first result of the central bank’s work to establish domestic banknote production.
