The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has published draft Guidelines for Professional Conduct in General Meetings and invited public comments. The draft sets out expected conduct and processes intended to support shareholder participation, strengthen corporate governance and promote market integrity in the conduct of general meetings. The guidelines aim to encourage professionalism and effective communication so shareholders have equal opportunities to participate, raise concerns and vote on key corporate matters on an informed basis. They focus on practical measures for effective meetings, including pre-meeting preparation, respectful discussion during meetings, transparent voting arrangements and post-meeting collaboration, with particular emphasis on listed companies. Stakeholders are invited to submit feedback on the draft guidelines, which are available on the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan’s website.
