The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) held an in-person meeting of its Working Group on the National Policy for Access to Insurance at its Rio de Janeiro headquarters, focusing on “Education as a Tool” for expanding access to insurance, and presented the group’s final report as part of the 12th National Financial Education Week. Opening the session, working group coordinator and SUSEP director Júlia Normande Lins outlined the report’s conclusions based on questionnaires and meetings held over recent months, framing financial education as a central theme across the group’s work while noting that access to insurance also depends on other levers. She pointed to the complexity of insurance contract concepts and cultural barriers to “insurance education”, and argued for awareness-building starting in childhood and youth. The programme also featured panels on the effects of inequality and inclusion strategies, consumer tools available in insurance markets, and education’s role in the access policy, with participation from SUSEP conduct supervision leadership alongside representatives from international initiatives, academia and industry. SUSEP indicated that the final working group report is available on its website under the Working Groups section for the National Policy for Access to Insurance.
