The Central Bank of Russia published its Review of Reporting on Information Security Incidents Related to Funds Transfers, summarising banks’ anti-fraud results for April–June 2025. Banks intercepted 38.7 million attempted fraudulent transactions and prevented customer losses of RUB 3.4 trillion, while fraudsters still carried out 273,100 fraudulent transactions worth RUB 6.3 billion. Attempted fraud blocked was 1.5 times the average of the previous four quarters, but the number of completed fraudulent transactions and the associated damage were 8.9% and 15.9% below the four-quarter average. Loss data are based on applications submitted by scam victims to banks. The central bank also initiated the blocking of 20,200 phone numbers and 13,400 fraudulent websites and social media pages used by fraudsters.
