The Central Bank of Iraq has adjusted the Iraqi dinar’s exchange rates against the U.S. dollar, effective Oct. 7, 2026. It will buy dollars from the Ministry of Finance at IQD 1,500 per USD, sell dollars to banks at IQD 1,510 and sell cash dollars to the public at IQD 1,520. The central bank said its foreign reserves are sufficient to meet all requests for external transfers financing trade, bank card settlements and cash sales to travelers without restrictions. It presented the adjustment as supporting domestic production and the competitiveness of Iraqi goods, while encouraging non-oil investment, expansion by small and medium-sized enterprises and job creation.
