The Central Bank of Montenegro and the World Bank reviewed their cooperation on financial infrastructure modernization and the central bank’s preparations for future membership of the European System of Central Banks. Governor Irena Radović said the next phase would focus on operational resilience, institutional capacity and readiness to participate in the European financial architecture. The meeting highlighted Montenegro’s earlier admission as the first Western Balkan economy within the Single Euro Payments Area geographical scope and its subsequent launch of an instant payments system based on TIPS Clone technology. Radović also presented the recently completed independent needs assessment, which identified priorities for the central bank’s institutional transformation, operations and staffing. She said the banking system remains stable, liquid and well capitalized despite heightened global uncertainty.
