Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) issued a press release projecting lending to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to grow 7–9% year on year in 2026, and outlined ongoing regulatory and supervisory measures to broaden MSME access to finance. MSME credit outstanding as of January 2026 totalled IDR 1,482.9 trillion, representing 17.33% of total credit/financing, and moderated to -0.53% year on year, which OJK linked to global and domestic economic dynamics and a slower post-pandemic recovery in MSMEs versus corporates. The release cited consumer indicators as supportive for 2026, including a Consumer Confidence Index of 127.00 and a Consumer Price Index of 109.75, and noted expected seasonal support around Eid in the first quarter of 2026. OJK highlighted Financial Services Authority Regulation No. 19 of 2025 on easing MSME financing access, which requires banks and non-bank financial institutions to apply principles of easy, appropriate, fast, affordable and inclusive financing and to provide dedicated MSME financing schemes; it has also established a Department for Regulation and Development of MSMEs and Islamic Finance to support initiatives such as financing business model development, optimising credit scoring, and MSME segmentation and profiling. Implementation work will continue through coordination with banks on embedding the MSME regulation into bank business plans, alongside support for the government’s 2026 Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR) distribution target of IDR 308.41 trillion, including participation in drafting the relevant ministerial regulation and supervision of distributing financial institutions, guarantors and credit insurance providers.
