The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan met with a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to discuss a broad cooperation agenda under economic development programmes for 2024–2029, with emphasis on the insurance sector and sustainable finance. The discussions covered potential cooperation to strengthen insurance supervisory capacity, develop and improve the sector’s regulatory framework, digitise insurance services, and run public literacy initiatives related to insurance. The agenda also included environmental, social and corporate governance principles, climate risk analysis in financial institutions, and development of the green finance market, alongside reference to the government’s Green Economy Development Strategy for 2023–2037 and planned institutional reforms aimed at mobilising green financing. EBRD representatives highlighted future cooperation priorities including private-sector project development, strengthening financial-system resilience, accelerating economic modernisation, and further improvements in corporate governance and the financial system.
