Bank of Indonesia published its April 2025 Retail Sales Survey, indicating retail sales are expected to remain solid in level terms in April but to contract month-on-month as demand normalises after Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. The Real Sales Index (RSI) is forecast at 231.1 in April 2025, with growth supported by spare parts and accessories, automotive fuel and clothing, while declines are expected in information and communication equipment, other household equipment, and food, beverages and tobacco. Respondents anticipate a 6.9% month-on-month fall in April. March 2025 RSI was 248.3, with year-on-year growth accelerating to 5.5% from 2.0% in February and month-on-month growth at 13.6%, attributed to seasonal festive demand and retailer discounting. Price expectations eased, with the Price Expectations Index falling to 146.4 for June 2025 and 153.1 for September 2025.
