Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users (CONDUSEF) has detected cases in which unknown parties impersonated Hexágono Capital, S.A.P.I. de C.V., SOFOM, E.N.R. to offer loans and demand advance payments. The perpetrators used a fraudulent website, social media and WhatsApp while misusing the financial institution’s name, image and address. Victims were offered quick, easily obtained credit and instructed to transfer money for purported commissions, taxes, insurance, verification, loan activation or other costs. The supposed promoters then ended contact. Hexágono Capital confirmed that it does not request advance payments or commissions. CONDUSEF advised consumers not to transfer money before signing a formal contract, to verify institutions and their details in its Financial Services Providers Registration System and to contact firms only through official channels.
