The Bank of Tanzania, together with the National Bureau of Statistics and the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority, is conducting a survey of companies with foreign liabilities in Tanzania to assess the impact of foreign private investment on the domestic economy, update the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position, and support policy formulation. The survey covers equity and non-equity data for 2024 and targets selected companies, with fieldwork scheduled from July to September 2025. Selected companies are asked to cooperate with researchers and enumerators, complete and submit questionnaires accurately, and provide audited 2024 financial statements, or provisional financials or best estimates where audits are not yet available. Questionnaires are to be returned within one week of receipt, and the authorities note that submission is mandatory under the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zone Act, the Statistics Act, and the Bank of Tanzania Act; non-compliance may constitute a violation. Collected information will be used for statistical purposes and published only in aggregated form to preserve confidentiality.
