The State Bank of Vietnam published an update on the Vietnam Asset Management Company (VAMC) and Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Hanoi, building on their cooperation framework established in 2019, to deepen bilateral collaboration in non-performing loan resolution. The MOU centres on three areas: accelerating digital transformation and innovation, including the use of artificial intelligence and data analytics in bad debt management; strengthening market-based NPL resolution capabilities through standardised documentation, asset valuation and handling of collateral; and applying international practices to move closer to advanced debt resolution models. KAMCO will serve as a key technical partner, providing advice and sharing practical experience to support VAMC’s capability uplift and operational modernisation, and the MOU was formally exchanged at the Vietnam–Korea Economic Forum in the presence of senior leaders from both countries.
