The Central Bank of West African States will hold a regional consultation at its headquarters on 30 January 2025 with the high courts of the West African Monetary Union (UMOA) member states on “cross perspectives on banking and financial regulation in the UMOA”. The meeting is intended to strengthen the uniform application of Union banking, monetary and financial law through exchanges between the central bank and senior judicial leaders. The consultation will bring together presidents of supreme and/or cassation courts, as well as presidents of courts of appeal and/or prosecutors general from UMOA member states. BCEAO Governor Jean-Claude Kassi Brou will chair the opening and closing ceremonies and participate in the working sessions, which are expected to focus on harmonised application of Union rules, sharing experience, and reinforcing synergies between national high courts and community institutions and bodies.
