The Government of Ontario has appointed Douglas E. Turnbull (ICD.D) as the next chair of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario’s board, effective 1 January 2026, on the recommendation of Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy. He will succeed Joanne De Laurentiis, whose chair mandate runs until 31 December 2025. Turnbull has served on FSRA’s board since May 2025 and brings more than 45 years of experience across investment banking, debt capital markets, advisory and credit rating businesses, including as recently retired vice-chair and country head (Canada) of Morningstar DBRS Ltd. and former deputy chair of TD Securities. De Laurentiis joined the FSRA board in 2019, was appointed chair in 2021 for a three-year term, and had her mandate extended in June 2024 and again to 31 December 2025.

Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario announces Douglas E. Turnbull as incoming board chair from 1 January 2026
Douglas E. Turnbull has been appointed as the next chair of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario’s board, effective 1 January 2026, succeeding Joanne De Laurentiis. Turnbull, who joined FSRA’s board in May 2025, brings over 45 years of experience in investment banking and related fields. De Laurentiis has served as chair since 2021, with her mandate extended until the end of 2025.
