De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) announced that Professor Marike Knoef will join its Supervisory Board from 1 April for an initial four-year term. She was appointed by Finance minister Eelco Heinen, acting on behalf of the shareholder, following a nomination by DNB’s Supervisory Board, and will replace Mirjam van Praag, who stepped down on 1 March 2026. Knoef is Dean of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management and Professor of Economics at Tilburg University, with previous academic roles at Leiden University and as director of the Network for Studies on Pensions, Ageing and Retirement (Netspar). Her research focuses on pensions, wealth accumulation and the role of policy, and she holds additional supervisory and advisory positions including membership of the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER), vice-chair of the Advisory Council of Statistics Netherlands (CBS), and membership of the Central Plan Committee at the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB).
