The Net Zero Asset Managers initiative (NZAM) published a statement responding to BlackRock’s departure, expressing disappointment at the withdrawal while noting that, as a voluntary initiative, it respects individual signatory decisions. NZAM reiterated that it views climate risk as financial risk and positioned the initiative as a tool to help investors mitigate these risks and capture benefits from the transition to net zero. It also said it has supported investors globally in navigating their own transition paths in line with fiduciary duties and clients’ long-term financial objectives, and intends to continue this role.
