The Bank of Finland has decided to discontinue its collection of data on crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending, citing the contraction of Finland-registered crowdfunding intermediation to a marginal level and limitations in the coverage of its statistics. In 2024, crowdfunding platforms registered in Finland mediated EUR 23.8 million of financing to domestic parties, a 66.3% decline from 2023 and the lowest volume recorded in the 2017–2024 time series. The Bank of Finland noted that its statistics did not provide a comprehensive view of Finland’s crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending markets because they excluded foreign providers offering services to Finns. The last statistical data were collected for 2024 directly from intermediaries. Peer-to-peer lending will continue to be monitored using data reported by both foreign and domestic companies to the Tax Administration’s Positive Credit Register, which the Bank of Finland highlighted as enabling market monitoring without separate surveys.

Bank of Finland ends data collection on crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending
The Bank of Finland will discontinue its separate data collection on crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending, citing the marginal size of Finland-registered crowdfunding intermediation and limited statistical coverage that excludes foreign providers. In 2024, Finland-registered platforms mediated EUR 23.8 million in financing, down 66.3% from 2023 and the lowest level since 2017. Peer-to-peer lending will instead be monitored via data reported to the Tax Administration’s Positive Credit Register.
