The Central Reserve Bank of Peru reported that private investment grew 17.6% year over year in the second quarter of 2026, accelerating from 13.2% in the first quarter. Nonresidential investment drove the increase, rising 22.5% as both non-mining and mining investment recorded strong growth. Residential investment expanded 5.1%, slowing from 7.3% in the previous quarter. Non-mining activity was supported by transport infrastructure projects, including Line 2 of the Lima and Callao Metro and roads linked to IIRSA North and IIRSA South, as well as investment to expand and renew capacity in other sectors. Mining investment totaled USD 1.795 billion, up USD 529 million from the second quarter of 2025, led by spending on development and preparation work and infrastructure.
