The Central Bank of Afghanistan reported that First Deputy Governor Sediqullah Khalid met Afghanistan–America Chamber of Commerce Chairman Jeffrey Grieco to discuss the development of banking relations among Afghanistan’s commercial banks, the expansion of trade, investment opportunities, and broader strengthening of the banking sector. The discussion covered traders’ banking challenges, electronic banking, international money transfers, improvements in financial services, and support for economic activity in Afghanistan. Khalid said the central bank is seeking cooperation with domestic and international institutions to support the private sector and trade. The meeting was also attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the Afghanistan Banks’ Association and the central bank’s Deputy Director of Banking Supervision and Financial Services.
