The Central Bank of the Philippines reported that Asia-Pacific central bank governors approved initiatives to strengthen financial consumer protection and address artificial intelligence risks at the Executives’ Meeting of East Asia-Pacific Central Banks in Singapore. The measures include a task force to share information among central banks to improve scam prevention and detection, as well as work to help financial institutions capture the benefits of AI while managing its risks. The governors also endorsed a training program on central bank policy and operations for junior central bankers. At a separate meeting with supervisory authorities, participants exchanged practices on responsible AI use by financial institutions and discussed the macro-financial implications of regional supply disruptions.
