The Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission has completed regulatory amendments allowing stock gift cards to be offered publicly after SinoPac Securities concluded a financial technology regulatory sandbox experiment. The service lets cards be redeemed through the firm’s digital platform to fund stock purchases, brokerage fees and securities transaction taxes, creating a new route for first-time and younger investors to enter the capital market. The trial ran from April 2025 to April 2026 and recorded nearly TWD 60 million in redemptions, more than 90,000 participants and almost 50,000 new securities accounts. To support permanent implementation, the commission accepted the Taiwan Securities Association’s Self-Regulatory Guidelines for Securities Firms Issuing Stock Gift Cards for recordation in March 2026.
