The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to strengthen cross-regional cooperation on strategic financial development priorities in Latin America and the Caribbean and the Arab region. The agreement sets a framework for coordinated technical assistance, knowledge exchange and joint events. Workstreams cover three areas. On payment systems, cooperation will link AMF’s Buna platform with IDB payments initiatives, including the FUSSE initiative, to support more efficient and interoperable cross-border payments through joint technical assistance and expertise-sharing. On climate finance and carbon markets, the institutions will advance joint research and technical work on carbon pricing, green taxonomies and fiscal incentives, coordinate ahead of COP30, and collaborate through forums such as the AMF Green Finance Meeting and IDB-led climate events. On public sector asset management, support under the CASA program will focus on treasury modernization via secondments, workshops and advisory services on complex financial instruments and analytics. The MoU provides a platform to operationalise this cooperation through secondments, joint events and coordinated technical assistance.
