South Africa's National Credit Regulator has announced that Otsile Maseng assumed office as chief executive officer on 1 June 2026, following his appointment by Cabinet on 6 May 2026. The appointment places a new permanent head at the agency that regulates the South African credit market, enforces the National Credit Act and oversees fair lending, transparency and consumer protection. Maseng brings more than 25 years of senior management experience across regulatory, credit management, legal, banking, telecommunications and construction roles. His previous positions include chief operations officer and acting chief executive officer at the National Home Builders Registration Council, as well as senior roles in local government, Telkom SA and Nedbank.
