Securities Commission Malaysia has signed a memorandum of understanding with Türkiye’s Ibn Haldun University to establish a global partnership on Maqasid al-Shariah aligned ethical finance. The arrangement is aimed at strengthening thought leadership on Maqasid al-Shariah principles within the Islamic capital market ecosystem and supports Malaysia’s Capital Market Masterplan 2026–2030 focus on Islamic finance, capacity building, research and cross-border collaboration. Planned outputs include a joint taskforce to oversee collaborative initiatives, an annual global roundtable on ethical finance anchored on Maqasid al-Shariah, and an annual joint report. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 3rd Global Islamic Economy Summit in Istanbul. In the release, the Securities Commission Malaysia linked the partnership to its broader internationalisation efforts and noted that Malaysia’s Islamic capital market accounted for 64% of the overall capital market, which grew 3.2% to USD 1.1 trillion in 2025.
