The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation has announced a partnership with ISITC, an industry trade group for financial services operations, to collaborate on legal entity identification, data standards and operational best practices. The tie-up is aimed at improving operational efficiency and data transparency across financial services through education, industry dialogue and practical guidance on the use of the Legal Entity Identifier. The collaboration brings together GLEIF’s work on LEI adoption and ISITC’s role in developing securities industry standards and practices. Planned activity includes conferences, webinars, research, roundtable discussions and presentation opportunities. In the announcement, GLEIF linked the LEI to cleaner reconciliation, ISO 20022 messaging and regulatory reporting, and positioned the partnership as relevant to post-trade processes as markets move to T+1 and faster securities settlement. No implementation timetable or formal deliverables were specified. The announcement indicates the two organizations will now explore joint education and best-practice initiatives for the broader financial services community.
