Bank of the Republic of Burundi hosts 9th EAC central bank internal audit conference focused on transforming audit functions

The Bank of the Republic of Burundi is hosting the 9th annual internal audit conference for central banks of the East African Community (EAC) in Bujumbura from 27 to 31 January 2025, aimed at improving and harmonising internal audit approaches across the region and sharing current practices. Held under the theme “the transformation of internal audit functions for the future”, the agenda includes a stocktake of progress in implementing resolutions from the previous conference, discussion of new internal audit standards and the harmonisation of internal audit within EAC central banks, and a forward-looking focus on how data analytics and artificial intelligence are changing internal audit. Participants include internal auditors from the central banks of Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The prior conference was hosted by the Central Bank of Kenya in Mombasa in January 2024.
