The Central Bank of Montenegro has opened applications for the 2026 CBCG Green Award, an annual award for unpublished academic papers on climate change challenges, with particular emphasis on their impact on the financial system. The award, established in 2023, includes a plaque and a cash prize of EUR 3,000 and is intended to encourage research and raise public awareness in this area. Applications are open to Montenegrin citizens who hold a higher education qualification of at least Level VI, or 180 ECTS credits, from a higher education institution in Montenegro or abroad. Eligible papers must be innovative and make a theoretical and empirical contribution to best practices for addressing climate change challenges and financial system stability, with relevance to central banks, financial regulators and supervisors, international organisations, credit institutions, or other financial system participants. Papers must not have been previously published or submitted elsewhere for publication. The submission deadline is 14 August 2026. The award is presented annually on 20 September, Montenegro's Ecological State Day, and forms part of the activities set out in the Roadmap of the Financial Sector towards Sustainable Finance adopted by the Financial Stability Council in 2025.
