Dominican Republic's Pensions Superintendency (SIPEN), the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS) sponsored the “Strengthening Institutional Capabilities in Actuarial Matters 2025” diploma programme to strengthen the technical skills that support actuarial decision-making and management of the Dominican pension system. The four-month programme was delivered virtually and included one week of in-person training in the country. Thirty participants received instruction from international facilitators Carlos Contreras, Luis Manuel Arguello Lugo and María del Sol Calvario Palma, covering topics including social security, mathematics, investment portfolios and actuarial studies, alongside practical exercises and group work applying the content to local cases. SIPEN linked the programme to advancing actuarial work within the pension system and strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, while CISS highlighted the focus on actuarial models and investment portfolio optimisation.
