The Reserve Bank of Fiji launched the Fiji Financial Services Demand Side Survey 2025 Report, finding that formal financial inclusion rose to a record 87% from 81% in 2020 and 64% in 2014. Based on interviews with 1,114 households, the survey measures progress under the National Financial Inclusion Strategy 2022-2030 and shows that mobile money account ownership increased from 17% in 2020 to 67% in 2025. Greater access has not yet translated into broad financial resilience. About one-third of households reported insufficient income to meet regular expenses, 61% could cover no more than one month of living costs after losing their main income, and fewer than half had saved in the previous 12 months. Only 10% of adults accessed formal loans, insurance coverage remained at 14%, and almost 30% of micro, small and medium enterprises reported difficulty obtaining finance. The findings will inform policies and programs focused on financial resilience, digital financial services, financing for micro, small and medium enterprises, and wider access to appropriate financial products as Fiji continues implementing its inclusion strategy.
