The National Bank of Moldova published an analysis of cash operations in Moldovan leu across the banking system for January 2026, showing that cash receipts at banks’ cash desks exceeded cash disbursements by MDL 96 million. Total cash receipts amounted to MDL 13,079 million, down MDL 951 million (6.8%) from the same month a year earlier. Receipts from the sale of consumer goods were MDL 7,458 million, representing 57.0% of total receipts, and fell by MDL 364 million (4.7%). Cash disbursements totalled MDL 12,983 million, a decrease of MDL 418 million (3.1%) year on year, with the reported volumes including transactions involving commemorative coins.
