The National Bank of Moldova released banking system statistics on cash operations for January–February 2025, showing that cumulative cash receipts at banks’ cash desks exceeded cumulative cash withdrawals by MDL 50.9 million. Total cash receipts were MDL 26,824.7 million, up MDL 529.7 million (2.0%) year on year, while cash withdrawals reached MDL 26,773.8 million, up MDL 878.6 million (3.4%). On the receipts side, cash paid into individuals’ current and deposit accounts rose by MDL 278.7 million (10.2%) to MDL 3,011.7 million, representing 11.2% of total receipts; receipts from consumer goods sales increased by MDL 259.9 million (1.8%) and receipts from rents and коммунal services by MDL 123.0 million (40.4%), while receipts from other services fell by MDL 251.9 million (12.1%). On the withdrawals side, the main contributor to the increase was cash disbursed to purchase foreign currency from individuals, up MDL 524.7 million to MDL 5,850.6 million (EUR 302.0 million equivalent), accounting for 21.9% of total withdrawals; ATM withdrawals rose by MDL 394.6 million (3.6%) and cash issued as loans to individuals by MDL 308.6 million (70.0%), while withdrawals for other purposes declined by MDL 212.5 million (6.2%) and withdrawals from individuals’ accounts by MDL 145.3 million (4.5%).

Total cash receipts increased by 2.0% year on year to MDL 26,824.7 million, while withdrawals rose by 3.4% to MDL 26,773.8 million. Notable changes included a 10.2% rise in cash paid into individuals’ accounts and a 70.0% increase in cash issued as loans to individuals.
