The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) has launched the website of the Insurance Arbiter (Arbitro Assicurativo), a new online dispute resolution mechanism for insurance matters. The Arbiter is not yet operational and complaints cannot currently be filed, pending a dedicated IVASS measure. The website is intended to help users understand how the Arbiter will work and how to access protection once it is active. It is structured to highlight key topics on the homepage, including what the AAS is, how to submit an appeal, non-compliant insurers and intermediaries, news and FAQs, and it will support an exclusively online procedure with a reserved area for claimants to follow the progress of their case. IVASS indicated the Arbiter will become operational through a specific IVASS provision that will be published on both the IVASS website and the Arbiter’s website.
