The Bank of Albania reported that Governor Gent Sejko, speaking at the presentation of the national “Double Your Entrepreneurship” program organized by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, highlighted changes aimed at expanding access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises. He pointed in particular to an extension of the financing term and an increase in the maximum financing amount, and said the program offers low interest rates and a sovereign guarantee covering up to 70% of collateral. In a panel discussion on financing as a driver of economic development, Sejko framed SMEs as a main pillar of Albania’s economy because of their role in job creation and growth. The discussion focused on stimulating private investment and strengthening cooperation between the government, the banking system and businesses. Sejko called on banks to be proactive in implementing the program and on businesses to use the financing opportunities it provides, linking the initiative to broader credit growth, bank portfolio diversification and stronger entrepreneurial activity.
