The National Bank of Moldova reported on a bilateral meeting in Brussels between Governor Anca Dragu and European Commissioner for Economy, Productivity, Implementation and Simplification Valdis Dombrovskis focused on strengthening cooperation with European institutions and advancing Moldova’s EU-oriented financial integration agenda. Talks covered Moldova’s macroeconomic developments and outlook, alignment with European financial standards, preparations to integrate into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), and implementation of European Commission recommendations under the EU Enlargement Package. The agenda also included Moldova’s growth plan and delivery of the International Monetary Fund-supported programme, with Dragu indicating Moldova is set to become operational in SEPA in the near term, enabling faster, safer and cheaper payments for citizens and businesses.
