The Argentina Securities Commission (CNV) hosted the plenary meeting of IOSCO’s Inter-American Regional Committee (IARC) in Buenos Aires on 2–3 October and held a second-day roundtable on market development and open finance, attended by IOSCO Secretary General Rodrigo Buenaventura and Argentina’s Secretary of Finance Pablo Quirno. The IARC plenary brought together representatives from 12 jurisdictions across the Americas and the Caribbean and covered themes including implementation of the regulatory framework for virtual assets, supervisory approaches in the region, regional initiatives and IOSCO recommendations. CNV Chair Roberto E. Silva presented on Argentina’s new regulation for virtual asset service providers (PSAVs) and tokenisation, while the open finance roundtable included contributions from market participants and industry representatives including Cohen Group, the Argentine Fintech Chamber, Mercado Libre and Pomelo. CNV noted that Silva serves as the IARC representative to IOSCO for the 2024–2026 period and positioned the meeting as the second IOSCO event hosted in Argentina in 2025, following an IOSCO Committee 8 meeting in Buenos Aires in June with representatives from 28 countries.
