The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) supported the establishment of the China Capital Market Society at its founding meeting and first members’ representative assembly in Shanghai, where the society’s charter and key internal rules were adopted and its first governance bodies were elected. CSRC Chair Wu Qing was elected president of the first council, and CSRC Vice Chair Li Chao was elected executive vice president. The society created seven specialist committees covering macroeconomy and industry, market stability and risk prevention, innovation and development, market microstructure, futures and derivatives, international markets and opening-up, and the rule of law and investor protection. Plans set out for the society include building a digital research and exchange platform, launching an academic journal, convening an annual academic conference, establishing an authoritative expert database, and developing research bases, alongside positioning the society as a policy advisory platform and a channel for contributing to international financial governance and standards-setting.
