Moldova's National Commission for Financial Markets participated in a UN Women Moldova event, supported by Swiss Cooperation in Moldova, focused on promoting financial inclusion as a driver of gender equality and sustainable development. Commission Chair Dumitru Budianschi reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to gender equality and financial inclusion and linked progress to strengthened inter-institutional dialogue and collaboration, including through strategies the Commission plans to implement. The event convened financial sector leaders, regulators, international partners and civil society to move from commitments to concrete actions. Discussions covered economic and social barriers affecting women’s access to financial services, women’s representation in decision-making roles within financial institutions, inclusive leadership models and specific initiatives to advance gender equality in the financial system; a Design Thinking workshop also generated practical proposals to expand women’s equitable access to financial products and services tailored to their needs.
