The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs published a hearing exchange in which Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh said he supports seeing the outcome of an Inspector General review into Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman's participation in a private dinner during the Federal Open Market Committee blackout period. Pressed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren on whether Bowman had shared non-public information or discussed regulatory matters at the event, Warsh said he was aware of Warren's letter to the Inspector General and would leave the matter to that independent investigation. The exchange centered on a reported closed-door dinner hosted by Bank of America for hedge fund and Wall Street clients, where Warren said Bowman was the featured guest and reportedly spoke about monetary policy and regulatory policy. Warsh repeatedly said he was not at the meeting, did not know the facts and did not want to prejudge issues being examined by the Inspector General. When asked whether he had separately questioned Bowman or conducted his own investigation, he did not give a direct yes-or-no answer and instead referred back to the Inspector General's fact-finding.
