The Central Bank of Russia published its annual calculation of foreign participation in the aggregate authorised capital of credit institutions with banking licences and insurance companies, showing a further decline as of 1 January 2025. Foreign equity accounted for 5.86% of banks’ aggregate authorised capital and 3.69% of insurers’, down from 6.95% and 4.79% as of 1 January 2024. For credit institutions, foreign investments used in the calculation totalled RUB 205.796 billion against aggregate authorised capital of RUB 3,513.831 billion. For insurance companies, the corresponding figures were RUB 8.893 billion of foreign investments and RUB 241.048 billion of aggregate authorised capital. The indicator is calculated and published annually in line with legal requirements.

Foreign equity in banks decreased to 5.86% from 6.95%, and in insurers to 3.69% from 4.79% year-on-year. The annual calculation showed foreign investments in banks at RUB 205.796 billion and in insurers at RUB 8.893 billion.
