The Central Bank of Cuba provided further details on its recently issued CUP 10,000 and CUP 20,000 banknotes, which are intended to facilitate cash transactions as inflation increases the amount of currency needed for payments. The higher denominations are also designed to reduce cash handling and logistics costs and accelerate transaction processing. The banknotes retain the updated security features used in the existing CUP 2,000 and CUP 5,000 notes and feature prominent figures from Cuban history. Their issuance forms part of the central bank’s broader update of Cuba’s currency denominations to reflect current banking and financial needs.
